Hi y'all! Happy Saturday morning!  

I am a day late, but yesterday officially started our SPRING BREAK so I took the evening off!  Did yesterday officially start your Spring Break?

We have been tackling multiplication with one of my math groups! During stations this past week they created a Multiplication Strategies Chart.  

Another math group in my SPED class has been tackling subtraction regrouping.  My students were have trouble knowing when to regroup when regrouping and no regrouping problems are mixed together.  This flap book by Step into 2nd with Mrs. Lemons really helped my students confidence knowing when to regroup when problems are mixed together.  They are pros now! 

I love this hands on learning interactive sight word emergent reader!

I could not be more thrilled to announce the launch of my Fluency and Skill Based Comprehension Notebook! Students can now keep the phonics skills they have learned throughout the year in one place to refer to during the year
and review at the end of the school year.  We have tested these in our
classroom and my kiddos have really loved reading these stories.

Spooktacular Five for Friday (Linky Party)

Happy Halloween everyone!  Today I am linking up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five For Friday.  This will be a special Spooktacular Halloween Five for Friday!  

Tuesday we had our Book-A-Ween at school, which so happened was our half day of school.  My sweet coworker dressed up as, The Giving Tree.  She made her son's No, David head which is pretty incredible!  I rocked my red school shoes as Pete the Cat.  I found these red shoes all over Pinterest and made them out of construction paper.  After our Book-A-Ween my kiddos made these Pinterest-inspired Frankensteins.  I love how unique each one turned out!

Every fall we have a Special Olympics: Bowling for our students with special needs in our city and county schools.  I am SO proud of my sweet kiddos that participated this year.  I just love seeing everyone come out and play together.  This is my first year having taught kids that are now in middle school.  It was exciting seeing students I had in elementary, now in 6th grade participating as well.   

My kiddos did a candy corn word work activity for their phonics skill a_e.     Also, here are a few Halloween decorations for the classroom this year.  Love the little ghost I found at a retired teachers yard sale!

This month my kiddos have used this packet during Word Work & Work on Writing stations.  It's so easy to stock our Writing stations, just Print and Go! You can click the picture to check out this resource.

I woke up at 5:00 this morning to make mummy dogs for my kiddos! But it was definitely worth getting up early seeing how excited they were when they saw them.  I didn't mention they were turkey dogs. ;)

Five for Friday (Linky Party)

Hi Sisters,
Today I am linking up with the lovely Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five For Friday weekly linky party.  This week felt like it flew by! 

Lights, Camera, ACTION! Our class rolled out the red carpet this week with Lyndsey's, from A Year of Many Firsts, Hollywood themed Verb Unit. At the beginning of the week, we met two celebrities, Vicky Verb and Vince Verb.  In stations this week they had auditions, where they acted out the verb on the camera.  They got to read scripts & act them out, toured the Walk of Fame, where they found the verb in a sentence on each star around the classroom, and did a Verb snapshots, where they went around the classroom to find verbs.  Yesterday they wrote their own movie! October is here so I was excited to bring out the new QR Codes for our listening station this week.  My kiddos just love this station and it truly has made the Daily 5 rotations run so much smoother.  My students just choose a story, scan the QR code, and press play.  You can check these out by clicking here.

Words cannot describe how much I love this Intervention Binder.  I started it this week and it has simplified my life so much and I know that it will help my students that struggle to read!  This will also be a great way to track my kiddos progress this year.  Thank you Mrs. Decarbo for this amazing resource!

We have been doing Work on Writing in our classroom since I started teaching, but I was obsessed when I found Melissa's display last spring.  I don't have a lot of wall space in my classroom, but this little area seemed like the perfect spot.  Before the anchor charts were displayed I did a mini lesson.  This week I was able to complete it so my students can use the anchor charts as a reference for when they are writing.  You can check this packet out here.

It was picture day this week! The kiddos were super excited.
